Install software slow

Alright so I’ve just reinstalled openSUSE 11.2 but apperently some stuff doesn’t work the way they used to.

YAST install software is incredible slow. The booting took forever when loading all the packages and now installing also takes a loong time and I have a pretty fast internet aswell.

We may be in the same boat here, I too am having issues.
The install software app is almost frozen loading, it says something like "downloading http opensuse blah blah something .xml and seems stuck.
I kill it and this error pops up:
y2base: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/sw_single.ycp:220
/sbin/yast2: line 454: 18256 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS

WTF???

Hi
More than likely a redirector issue use a local mirror…

I’m getting this issue as well…

Well if you want to compare notes, I am in the US…
I am unsure if its just the american server though.
I have my closest mirror as my repo already, will try more soon.
It seems my local mirror might be down, I live in PA

I live in sweden. It’s slow here too.

Hi,

maybe you want to have a look at following thread:
Zypper lag? - openSUSE Forums

Hope this helps

palladium

Same here on my openSUSE 11.2 (64 bit).

Seems to happen since the latest software updates today… Unfortunately, I didn’t check which packages got updated. :frowning:

Location: Germany
Connection: 32/2.5 MBit/s, Cable

Hopefully the Zypper tweaking shows some results…

Same here , noticed yesterday , U.S.> Texas .
Came on here to post up and see if anyone else was having trouble as well , so I see I am not the only one .
Get this error :
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/sw_single.ycp:220
/sbin/yast2: line 454: 7338 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS

I think someone else posted this error as well .

Nope, still show

I’m pretty sure however that it has something to do with kde 4.4 getting uploaded. Pretty stupid since I had to cancel my system update because I didn’t have time to update it completely. Hopefully I didn’t break everything

Works again for me.

Whoever did the fixes: Thanks!

phewwwwww…i just posted a thread about my problem.i was unable to add new repo’s (packman and nvidia).was really confused thought of reinstallign OS again before i saw this post.and for some strange reason i am unable to open certain pages on web.dod know why
