install software designed for Linux novell?

Hi.
just bought Advice pr650 ups.
the software includes Novell netware version.
can i use it on opensuse?

Googling, I see this appears to be a device that connects via the USB. If so, it should be detected automatically by openSUSE regardless of the software on it.

Nothing Happens When i insert the usb cable…

If you are using KDE4 there should be a laptop icon; click on that to see if it is recognised.

Otherwise, open a console and try:

hwinfo --usb

As I don’t know what it should do, I cannot help any further.

If you are using KDE4 there should be a laptop icon; click on that to see if it is recognised.

Otherwise, open a console and try:

hwinfo --usb

hwinf gives: command not found

Yast system, system services (runlevel)

Enable the powerd deamon, it is for monitoring UPS battery backups,

login as root and try again?

Hi and thank you for the help.

I had a problem with dmesg and after i fixed it i got access to hwinfo.

I enabled the power deamon but how can i reach it?

this is the output for hwinfo --usb:

linux-atne:/home/###; # hwinfo --usb

Sorry but I’ve forgotten the question. Is the device you plugged in showing up in the output? If so, which one is it and what is the question? If not, the problem is that it isn’t recognised for some reason.

I don’t know if the device is recognised or not.
Whay do i have 2 Usb devices of the same vesndor (i.e - two sundisc cruiser devices when i have only one)?
Why is it so **** difficult to plug a usb ups device and expect it to appear?
