Install opensuse tumbleweed on Acer Chromebox CXI2

I have Acer Chromebox CXI2 (Acer Chromebox CXI2 | Chromebook.wiki by K-Tech.consulting)

I’ve installed seabios (from https://docs.mrchromebox.tech/) on it, which lets me use it like a PC instead of ChromeBox

I’ve been running Debian Linux on it for several years.
Just wanted to try Suse Linux on it. So, i downloaded tumbleweed ISO and tried to install. I found that SuSE Linux Tumbleweed does not detect this box as a PC, it prompts me it needs to download a special kernal and then freezes.

The following is what the installer did. (i used a network ISO)

  1. booted up
  2. connected to wifi
  3. asked me to partition disk
  4. select software
  5. prompted me that it needs to download a special kernel
  6. it appeard like it booted a new kernel and tried to prompt me to enter the WIFI credentials again. At this point the installer froze
(I retried multiple times, and the installer froze at this very step and i can’t install OpenSuSE. Will keep the Debian for now)

Are there any tips/tricks i can try?

You are confusing yourself and other people. There is no such thing. You most probably mean “openSUSE Tumbleweed”. There is also SUSE Linux as in SLED and SLED, but that is something different.

I would burn a live image on an USB stick and try to boot that.

Select Alternative Downloads! and chose one of the four images for Intel or AMD 64-bit desktops, laptops, and servers (x86_64) or use this link for the KDE image.

Does it boot?

If so open a command prompt (konsole) and issue “inxi -e” adn share that output especially Machine, CPU and Graphics.
