Install openSUSE To Existing 97 GB Hard Drive Partition

Greetings!

I have a 350 GB hard drive with the following:

C: Windows XP (Service Pack 3) NTFS 100 GB
D: Programs/Apps/Data from Windows installed here. NTFS 100 GB
F: 97 GB partiton created via EASUS FAT32

I want to install OpenSUSE to the F: drive. OpenSUSE wants to shrink the Windows Partition to 42 GB. I know 100 is more than needed, and if it is best, I will let SUSE ‘shrink’ the partition. At this time, I’d like to try to install SUSE to the F drive/partition. I don’t care if SUSE wants to further partition that space. Can I direct SUSE to just make use of the one partition, or is it better to let SUSE make use of the space on the C drive?

I’ve been searching for directions on the 'net, but have not found anything which quite addresses this situation.
Thank you!

Remove this partition and tell the installer to install to unpartitioned
space.

Linux doesn’t really run in FAT32, it has its own filesystems.

You can do anything you like with the expert mode. If you want the
installer to give a proposal directly using that space, you have first to
remove that 97 GB partition, so that it is seen as “free”.

All right, Jim – that makes sense, now that I think about it!!! I can’t yet remove the C: and Windows XP, as my work requires a Windows environment. I remember seeing ext4 and another file system which I should remember, but don’t I should’ve remembered to have it as free space!

Carlos, you’ve reinforced this, and I thank you for taking time. I will be careful, and try to let the installer do its work before I dive into Expert mode, which I certainly am not at this point. I’ll let you know results.

Thank you both!
