Install openSUSE on Dell Dimension E520

Has anyone installed openSUSE on a Dell Dimension E520?
If so was it successful?

It has XP home installed
Approx 2.5 years old
Wish to dual boot
Looking at the partitioning is as strange as I have found

Partition 1 Dellutility 31.3 Mb Fat
Partition 2 C:/ 112 Gb NTFS
Partition 3 unallocated 7.8 Mb
Partition 4 Backup 38 Gb NTFS
Partition 5 CP/M, Concurrent Dos,CTOS 3224 Mb

Partitions 1 and 5 are my concern!
If I install openSUSE will it screw up Partitions 1 and 5?
Will the install successfully add grub for the dual boot?
Where will grub install to?

Thanks Vic

From my experience, dell create the 2 partitions for recovery files. If you want to install opensuse, go ahead and delete them. Depending in what’s on the disk, backup your data first.
The 2 partitions are too small to do anything with though.
If you have the original xp install disk, perhaps reinstall xp on as much space as you need and then use the rest of the disk for linux.
Also, new linux installs/upgrades are easier if you use a separate /home partition for your data. Don’t format for new installs/upgrades.
