The install stops after “Configure X”. It stops with a green screen with a white rectangular outline and a white bar at the bottom.

AMD64 Athlon, Suse 11.0 64bit. What other information would be needed to aid in a solution?

For a start you can give us the spec of you’re computer
Did you do a media check ?
Did you try to find out if you’re hardware is supported see opensuse hardware database
