Install of OpenSUSE 11.2 on MS Virtual PC

Hi

I would appreciate if someone could help me on this forum.

I am trying to install OpenSUSE 11.2 on MS Virtual PC (32 bit version).

The installation performs smoothly (partitions the filesystems installs all packages etc), however it hangs @ 28% when it performs the “Automatic Configuration”. When I click the screen I can move the mouse but the install seems to have stopped. The filesize of my .vhd has not increased so thats further evidence that it has ceased.

All previous steps of the install were successful.

Has anybody tried this before and has it worked for them?

I allocated 16GB on the virtual pc to allow ample space for install and other components.

Is this a known issue?

If anybody can shed any light on this, that would be great.

Thanks

about three ‘pages’ into the install process there is a page titled
“Installation Mode” with three radio buttons to select New Install,
Update or Repair…below that are two check boxes, UNcheck “Use
Automatic Configuration” and it shouldn’t hang up trying to auto
figure out your hardware…THAT is the good news, the not so good
news is that YOU will need to know what your hardware is and feed in
the right info when asked…

hmmmm, a smarter helper might be able to tell you where to look for
the install log to see just what it is not figuring out
correctly…but, i’m not that smart…

give it a try, and come back and ask if you need more…
