Install new fonts question

Hi all,

I have a cd of new fonts that I would like to install into the fonts folder.

How do I copy over the contents of the cd into the fonts folder?

I am using 11.3 Gnome 32bit

Thanks

Heeter

Make a folder of the fonts in your /home/user dir (call it whatever but I will call it cdfonts)
Open a terminal as su do

mv cdfonts /usr/share/fonts/cdfonts

Thanks Caf,

Heeter

You are welcome
Let me know if you have any trouble because I had problems in 11.3 doing this with a windows fonts folder and had to remove it.

Working on it now, will let you know in a bit…

Looking like it is working properly, caf.

Thanks for the help.

Great - Well done

Hi
You can aways create a ~/.fonts directory and place them there if you
don’t want them system wide. It also helps to run SuSEconfig if you put
them in /usr/share. Also run fc-cache to update as well.

Hi Malcomlewis,

Where do I locate suseconfig? I cannot find suseconfig in Yast.

Thanks

Heeter

Hi
It’s /sbin/SuSEconfig (needs to be run as root user) /usr/bin/fc-cache
as your user.
