install from windows - general infos

Hi everyone,
i’m going to install SUSE on my asus laptop, however before going tru this i have a question :

i obv mount SUSE image (11.4) with daemon tools (i don’t have the optical drive) directly from win vista (cause i need it as well), till now ok, but, on rebooting (second part of the installation i guess, correct me if i’m wrong) how can i deal for finishing the installation?USB stick?

it’s a very general question but before getting trouble with it (and making maybe win not working also  ) i’ve to be sure what i have to do

best regards and thanks in advance to the replayer(s) to this post,
Luca

nb. of course i’ve read this :
"On the next reboot, the Microsoft Windows boot loader launches. Choose openSUSE 11.4 Installer to start the openSUSE installation. In order to proceed with the installation, you will be prompted to insert the installation media. The installation proceeds as described below. When Microsoft Windows is booted again, openSUSE 11.4 Installer is automatically uninstalled. "

but i’m guessing how to get to “insert the installation media”. I can only use USB

of course i’ve tried also to make a bootable USB stick following infos that can be find here:
http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick” but i’ve tried it (changing bootable priorities to usb->HDD->network) but it seems to to find USB stick

The common belief here is that it is impossible to install that way and
that it may destroy your windows.

IMHO, you will have to ask directly the author of that documentation, we
know nothing about that method. Me, I would like to read it. Do you have a
link?

hi
the belief that i had it was because i installed windows in that way using bart (Bart’s Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD) and it worked fine (but it took a bunch of time)

the problem is that using both the std SUSE ImageWriter and unbetbootin make my installation of suse by USB (i’ve 3 of it, guess which one is working fine?no one!) stuck @ the promp loader (the cursor in the top is flashing from 10 minutes so far) and i i’ve follow all the instuction reported here :
SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE

a bit unreal

ps. the procedure wrote above is referred to “liveCD.iso”, but of course i’ve tried to do that with DVD.iso…
before start installing i want to make sure USB is working fine itself, but it seems to be not working (boot from usb key live .iso ->stuck

You are better off trying with a CD image install following this

SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE

i’ve already done what is written in that link
i’ll give another try after that i’ll sort it out in another manner
ty for the replies
