I have a folder where there are about a hundred fonts. I want to install all of them. How should I proceed? If I select all and press enter, my system hangs.
Thanx…

in what application/desktop environment/operating system and version
do you “select all”?
when you say “system hangs” is the hard drive LED flashing it is busy
doing something? or does the fan get louder? or does the cap-lock
light flash? can you move the mouse? if you wait 30 minutes does it
become unhung?
what have you usually done to clear the ‘hang’?
what happens if you just select one font for installation? (does it
install ok? how long does it take?
how about if you try just ten?
what kind of fonts are they?
and, the “folder” they are in: is it a directory on the machine’s
internal hard drive? external? USB? networked drive?

I have OpenSUSE 12.3 GNOME. Yeah, the HDD LED still flashes. The Caps Lock flashes but very slowly. I tried with ten of them. Font viewer opened. There were ten ‘Install’ buttons. The first font got installed and from the second one onwards it became unresponsive. Nothing happened on clicking those buttons. To clear the hang, I go to tty1 and shutdown my computer
If I select only one font, it installs just in a moment, not even a second. They are all Microsoft fonts. They are in my computer HDD, not in any externmal HDD.
Thanx…
just dump them(.ttf files) into ~/.fonts (or) /home/<userName>/.fonts folder

Cap lock flashing is the signal of a crash. If you can obtain the log,
please report it in Bugzilla.

Thanx…It worked!
Sorry. I was actually replying to the second post, therefore my language was not clear. The caps lock flashes slowly only when I press it
Thanx a lot…!
