Install fine wont boot - single OS - single disk -

I have a machine Intel dual core and am relatively new to Linux. Now here is a strange one. I had a disk running Microsoft Hyper-V and OpenSuse 13.1 runs fine as a HyperV guest. So I put in a blank hard disk that is good and install from the same Opensuse 13.1 image. The install runs fine but on boot it hangs. If I boot in advanced mode it gets to a point where it says

a start job is running for dev-disk-by …x2dpart(?).device

where the ? cycles 1,2,3 endlessly. I checked the Md5 checksum, Install media is good but I am at a loss why it stops on the above error and how can I get more info on errors. I would take it that looks like a disk related item. What other diagnostics can I run? Are there things in BIOS to check?

You mean from the same ISO? Or did you image the Hyper-V VM and try to
boot it natively? If so, that won’t work, because the device names are
different.

What I did was perform and installation from a USB bootable memory stick to a fresh HD with it being the only HD in the system. The Linux Kernel comes up fine and the whole install runs through to the end with no errors but then on the first boot it hangs just after the first “boot” screen display. Something is still alive because the screen will dim and refresh but it is hung solid and has to be hard powered off. I also ran the FW tests and 6 failed

CPU scaling
OS/2 memory hole
DMA mem check
EDD boot disk image
MTRR validation
HPET configuration test
