Install failed before it really started...help??

So I boot to the DVD that I burned from the ISO that I downloaded. It sees the disk and starts spinning up goes through a couple of screens and then it gets to “initializing package manager” above the green progress bar and gives me this error:

"Unable to create repository
from URL ‘dvd://’.

Details:
|] Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)
History:

  • Can’t copy /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000001/media.1/media to /var/cache/zypp/raw/RepositoryXVtgFn

  • Can’t provide /media.1/media: Can’t copy /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000001/media.1/media to /var/cache/zypp/raw/RepositoryXVtgFn

Try Again?"

If I say yes it give me an option to select CD or DVD and to put in an address. If I say no it aborts the install.

Surely I cannot be the only one to have seen this…can anyone help?

Did you try running the Media Check from the menu of the dvd? it takes a good few minutes but it will verify if the media is good.

I will give that a shot. Thanks.

Well, I feel stupid…did you know that you cannot read a dual layer DVD with a "non-dual layer DVD drive? Duh…

I will reburn and try again with the proper media.

You might want to check this in the mean time. it will set out some of the basics
