Install DVD stuck at boot (MacBook 2006)

Good day to all

I have a 2006 MacBook (core 2 duo) that I intend to install openSUSE on it but everytime i boot from the DVD it goes directly to this screen and neither the USB ports nor the keyboard works (the DVD boot fine in a WINDOWS PC), I tried booting the DVD using rEFInd with no avail… Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Are you supposed to type the number one eg: 1
?
To select legacy boot

Oh yes, about that… I forgot to mention that the keyboard stop working as soon as it get to this screen, also tried an USB keyboard but it doesn’t work

how about you go in to bios and enable legacy mode as I’ve read that some apple devices don’t support 64bit uefi (I might be wrong)

according to this
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2132514?tstart=0
those old macs have crippled 32bit effi
I did a simple search and it seams apple don’t have a usb driver for legacy mode so if you want to install in legacy mode you will need to do it with a real DVD not an usb image.
I have little apple experience so maybe someone else can help you or do a little googling.

just a thought does that machine have another OS on it, if so mixing modes efi/legacy will break things.

It’s a DVD disc… it never booted from the usb drive

what about your hard disk partition apparently if it’s gpt macs will only work in uefi mode and as your only has 32bit uefi it won’t work with LEAP, you would need to convert your hard drives to mbr to allow legacy mode, ask mr google

This is known problem with Apple and El Torito boot with multiple choices and indicates that you attempt to boot in CSM. Try pressing Option key while switching on your Mac Book. You should get several icons; try choosing from them. I do not have DVD writer in my new notebook so I cannot not test, but I had exactly the same issue back with 13.1 of 13.2 (do not remember).
