does this mean drivers are installed for the device? is this the right section to post?

trying to install the drivers from the avermeida website. in the troubleshooting txt inside the drivers folder it says-

In openSUSE 11.1, please install the following packages using ‘YaST’
or ‘YaST2’:

    kernel-source kernel-syms gcc

After the installation completes, also make sure your are running the
same kernel version as kernel-source and kernel-syms package.

To enquire current kernel version, execute: uname -r
To enqure version of kernel-source, execute: rpm -qi kernel-source
To enqure version of kernel-syms, execute: rpm -qi kernel-syms
suse1@linux-fjj3:~> uname -r
3.1.0-1.2-desktop
suse1@linux-fjj3:~> rpm -qi kernel-source
package kernel-source is not installed
suse1@linux-fjj3:~> rpm -qi kernel-syms
package kernel-syms is not installed

do i just add kernel-source, kernel-sys and gcc or do i add kernel-desktop base. dont know which kernel to add?

anyone figure out or have they gotten the avertv hybrid volar max working with opensuse 12.1. I have to boot into windows vista when using the volar max, would like to use opensuse instead of booting into another system

thanks

Just to tell you that somebody read your post and lest you fill ignored - I
have no idea what that “avertv hybrid volar max” is. Maybe a typo and you
are writing into Averty labels with a special printer.

its a tv tuner card

Hi!

I have an Avermedia avertv hybrid volar hx. It’s like yours but for dvb-t digital signal(european) instead of atsc(north american).
I also tried to install it but, got the same problem with kernel 3.1 and x86

I found this page:
AVerMedia - LinuxTVWiki

with some support, your card is not listed (only the pci version). It’s seems like Avermedia will not offer support for newer kernel versions, but you can try the solution for the volar hx

AVerMedia AverTV Hybrid Volar HX (A827) - LinuxTVWiki

Is tested for a 64-bit OS. For me it didn’t work, but you may have luck!

Cheers!
