I just downloaded opera 9 as tar.gz and I can’t semm to install it. can someone give me instructions on how to install. I am fairly new at trying to install and I know I’m doing something wrong, but I don’t know what it is.
Thanks.
so why don’t you use the rpm’s??
Agreeing w/ iced empire. Opera is on the DVD. If you don’t have the DVD, you need the non-oss repository added to your list of repositories (at a minimum, you should have oss, non-oss, and update repositories added anyway, so if you don’t do so now- if you aren’t sure how, check the user documentation in the wiki).
Generally, it is preferable to install from openSUSE rpms (they’re packaged specifically for us, and often tested for problems, like dependencies specific to us) than to download and install a piece of software. If you aren’t sure if something is available in openSUSE rpm, you can click the “Get Software” link in the left sidebar. You will see a search for software option in the left sidebar of that page.
