I installed Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT) on my computer recently. Both openSUSE and Windows are on a same hard drive and there is a SSD for caching. Sometimes when I boot Windows and then openSUSE I get error: inode not found. After I disable ISRT the error disappears. What could be the reason behind this error? I guess some boot info is stored in the cache drive and it did not flush the updated boot info to the hard drive, but I set my ISRT as write through so that should not happen. Any help is appreciated.
Any file systems you use by both operating systems?
I store some data in a NTFS partition and they are accessed by both OS.
In that case, do you have switched off in Windows sowmthing that is called “fastboot” or something like that?
I am not a Windows user, but have read here several times that Windows, when that fast boot is on, does not realy leaves the file systems in a “save to remove” state at shutdown.
Sorry I should have been more specific, I’m using Windows 7 so it does not have “fastboot” feature, but it seems like the cache doesn’t completely flush when I turn off openSUSE or Windows. When I access that NTFS partition, sometimes when I create a new file in an OS and switch to the other OS, that file doesn’t appear.
Ok, it was just a trial shot. Then better concentrate on that cache (where I have no comment because of lack of knowledge).
Thanks for your help.
