Hello. I have been posting here and in the boot/install/login groups my problems with onboard speakers (no sound) and reboot/shut down in Leap 15.6/HP Envy Core Ultra 7.
Well, las kernel update has fixed the two problems.
Thank you for your help and suggestions.
It’s great that the issues have been resolved. It can be stressful to deal with lingering issues.
So, any indication what was updated to “fix”?
(we always copy the list of packages to be updated for future reference, in a text file).
The two potential I gleen from the other thread (better to have posted there, vs new thread) is NVIDIA and Wayland - both are very tricky at times (i.e., many prob threads about both, mostly seen with TW).
I do not know how to attach a text file in the post. This the last update as it is displayed in rpm -qa --last:
Kernel-default-devel-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.x86_64 vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:40
kernel-default-optional-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.x86_64 vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:38
kernel-devel-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.noarch vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:37
kernel-default-extra-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.x86_64 vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:33
kernel-macros-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.noarch vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:32
kernel-default-6.4.0-150600.23.30.1.x86_64 vie 13 dic 2024 23:18:24
Thanks for the list of updates.
I checked our recent update (we check almost daily). We got the same kernel related updates (but just three files).
I’m curious, though - see my commented list below. We got the three standard updates, as most everyone would.
I see you also got three additional updates, if doing kernel customization.
Do you do kernel customization?
==== these 3 are standard ====
kernel-default-optional
kernel-default-extra
kernel-default
==== these 3 for kernel customizing ====
kernel-devel
Kernel-default-devel
kernel-macros
I think this packages installed the last time I reinstalled the system from scatch and installed the propietary Nvidia drivers:

confirming that
kernel-devel
Kernel-default-devel
kernel-macros
are required when installing proprietary Nvidia drivers to build the relevant kernel modules.
OK. Thank you.
Thanks @agbal and @OrsoBruno for the replies … it’s good to know why these additional kernel packages are required.
