inconsistent state after failed update from 13.2 to 42.1

Hi folks,

I tried to upgrade from 13.2 to 42.1. As the most important section on *https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade *only provides info on how to upgrade from 42.1 to 42.2, I might have messed up something when entering the repositories. Anyway, they now look like:

I tried a distribution upgrade, but upon rebooting,* lsb_release -a* still gives me

From what you posted,
You probably didn’t do a distribution upgrade (zypper dup), you might have done a simple **update.
**Unlike many other distros, here in openSUSE we define “upgrade” as a major change from one distro release to another, while an “update” only installs changes to packages but stays within the same major release.

When you do an upgrade,
You will see your os version change.

I recommend you go back to the very first steps in your SDB upgrade article,
And then do each step <again> (including changing your repos back to 13.2 and adding the upgrade repo), then perform each step, paying particular attention to when the instruction is a “zypper up” or a “zypper dup”

Thank you for your comment. However I don’t think that was the problem. I executed the commands as stated in the article, including the* zypper dup* at the end.

The problem is, in the section *Running the upgrade -> Command line, *instructions are only given for the upgrade from Leap 42.1 to 42.2 - if I want to upgrade from 13.2 to Leap 42.2, I have to replace

# sed -i 's,openSUSE_Leap_42\.1,openSUSE_Leap_42.2,g' /etc/zypp/repos.d/*

by something I was not quite sure. So I entered

# sed -i 's,openSUSE_13\.2,openSUSE_Leap_42.1,g' /etc/zypp/repos.d/*

My feeling is that some repositories were not replaced correctly. It would be great if somebody could post the correct line here (and even better on the system upgrade website)…
