Ok guys, I did this recently and wanted to launch it the same day as 11.3 but I was waiting on permission for use of a lightprobe for my image based lighting.
plus there were a couple tweaks here and there, it is actually part of a more complex model, but not bad for my first render…at least I hope:dont-know:
once I finish the entire model I will post.
the link takes you to the 2560x1600 res, there are two others at 1920x1200 and 1680x1050

Nice work, what software did you do the modeling and rendering with?

maya 8.5 and mental ray
I have actually had maya 8.5 for a long time, but I have been so busy learning others things that it wasn’t until I had a pretty good understanding of those that I have fired it up and really applied myself to learning it, unfortunately I think the newer versions of maya are for fedora only whereas 8.5 could be installed on the 10x openSuSE

Cool, thanks.
I’ll have to look into mental ray, I’m a POV-Ray user
myself.

I posted the full model: Da Kernel KDE-Look.org
I picked doing a robot because, though common, it allowed me to apply a good chunk of the modeling concepts in one project. Now it’s on to organics, apparently a true test in modeling and texturing.
I wanted to put the logos of openSuSE, Fedora and Debian on the heads of the models and then title it something like “united under one kernel” or something to that effect (yeah I know, pretty lame title.) but since each company or organization has clear guidelines on their logo use, I wrote to the legal departments of Novell, Fedora, and Debian to see if I could use their logo in conjunction with other logos; no one answered, so I did a quick vector penguin instead.
hope you dig it.
