Hi everybody. :shame:
I’m having this issue since I buy my Pavilion DV5-1143LA, and here is:
The performance of my Graphics in Linux its just terrible. I don’t use glxgears as my benchmark because its not really accurate, so I’m using the TuxRacer game that also works on Windows.
So, on Win I have a solid 55 FPS, while in Linux only 10 FPS … The difference its from heaven to earth.
This was on 11.1 with the “intel” driver.
I thought that with 11.2 and a new kernel, and a new Xorg, and a new Mesa, and just a new everything this will get better, at least to get 30 or 40 FPS … But after installing 11.2 M8, i crash with the reality. The same poor performance.
So after “googling” around for hours, days, without results i came here
Somebody with the same problem ? Some tip, hint, or whatever ? I need blender and other 3D utilities, and with this performance its just impossible.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
Cheers!
I can only refer you to this disappointing article

FWIW, have a read of this (NV/INtel section)
GPU-Performance - KDE UserBase
This Gentoo-based Intel_GMA Wiki has some information concerning various acceleration options (EXA, UXA). Might be worth a read.

There is probably only so much Novell can with the present Xorg/intel driver situation, but I had hoped to see as many intel graphics users as possible testing these milestone releases, and assisting by submitting bug reports and feedback during this development phase.
Well, a ray of light appear on my desk lol!
After a recent update on my M8 installation, the performance of my graphics jump from 10 fps to 30-35 fps, which is just great. Still lacks behind the Win driver, but its at least getting better.
BTW, i cant find xorg.conf y this release, whats the deal with that ?
Thanks to everybody and congratulations for this amazing release
I just can’t wait to the final version

Thats good news. I wonder what update improved the situation for you?

Thats the normal situation with distros using recent Xorg versions. Autodetection via Hal is being used to achieve this. However you can still use xorg.conf to reconfigure Xorg manually if required.
Hi again.
Just to keep a track of the issue.
In OpenSUSE 11.2 RC1 the FPS goes up again … From 30 to 40-43 Avg.
This is just a great news for me at least
Thanks for all the effort put in this release, from my humble opinion, this will be one of the best ones
