Hi All,
Having gotten some questions on if it’s possible to import Outlook pst files into GNOME’s Evolution I came across a project that has developed a plug-in to do this…
Turns out the OBS has packages for it : Software.openSUSE.org - hits on ALL evolution-pst
I’ll be trying this out but was wondering if any of you have used it before and what your experiences with it have been? Do all items get imported for instance?
Cheers,
Wj

You could check out http://outport.sourceforge.net/ if you still have
windows installed. I used it a few years ago and it worked decently.
Hi qiaozd,
That is what this plugin should be able to do. I gave it a try last night but the module is built for Evolution 2.12, and openSUSE 11.0 is running 2.22.
After copying the plugins to the Evolution 2.22 plugin folder I did get this option listed in the plugin list but can’t find any options in Evolution to trigger the import.
@69_rs_ss: thanks for the link. I did try the Outport software before, if does convert but I’ve run into issues with 2003 pst files (e.g. no conversion or missing many items).
This plugin seems like a nice option, especially seeing you don’t need a Windows machine and the import is from within Evolution.
Reading though some archive postings it seems the plugin will work using SLED 10.
Anyway, other suggestion are welcome!
Cheers,
Wj

Yeah, my experience was with 2000 so I had no problems. I’d hate to even
try it against 2007 if 2003 had issues.
Maybe a better option using SLED with this plugin and bring the Evolution mail folder to openSUSE , or take the road of converting your Outlook mail to Thunderbird (from within Windows) bring that to Thunderbird Linux en run the import into Evolution… but would not look forward to doing that for more than 3 or 4 mail files
