I'm considering my 1st PC build

I’m looking to build my 1st Desktop PC and I’m asking my fellow Susers about any problem hardware.
The items under consideration are as follows:

CPU:
AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor

RAM:
Kingston - FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

GPU:
MSI - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB Video Card

Motherboard:
Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard

Since I use Tumbleweed I especially would like to know if it’ll play well with this hardware.

You might consider going completely team Red. Replace the nvidia gpu with Radeon Rx 580. The rx 580 is about the same price and uses linux friendly drivers.

Before anything else, you should probably write down your expected uses and your other objectives.
Then create your hardware list based on how well your uses are supported. Sometimes reliability and a track record might be preferred, on the other hand a gaming enthusiast might push the limits of stability for better performance.

Then,
Research each component both in these Forums and on the Internet.
Any questions you can’t find an answer can be posted here for others to offer their opinions and experience.

Overall she’s going to be a GP device so a little of everything no overclocking though.

I suppose you are already familiar with the interplay between kernel updates and NVidia drivers in TW, but maybe you’re one of those seemingly rare people who is satisfied to stick with FOSS for his NVidia. I’ll be curious to see if you are one of the latter, or might become one of the latter, with the newer faster hardware. Hint - I don’t mean the optional xf86-video-nouveau, which is usually installed via pattern and overrides the newer technology Xorg default that is more than satisfactory with my (much older) NVidia hardware. (My new stuff is entirely Intel.)

Well 1st I did make a change instead of the nvidia (which was a habit from the old days) I decided to get a
Radeon RX 570 GPU. I did read the SDB and it looks to me like it was time to make a change. So new build new ways.
