I don’t know. But wouldn’t a IDE PCI controller not be a better option?

When these adapters first appeared, they were designed to convert an IDE port on the motherboard, to a SATA connection to a SATA hard drive and use a new hard drive on an older motherboard. But, it sounds like you are using this adapter to convert an IDE Hard Drive to SATA to use an older hard drive as a SATA drive to the motherboard. If this is so, what is the Master/Slave Jumper set for on the IDE hard drive? This would be a single drive Master jumper setup. Make sure the IDE hard drive jumper is setup properly. Also, consider this adapter may not work as you have hoped.
Thank You,
In the long run it would me much easier to use on of these:
PCI to IDE Ultra 2 Ports ATA 133 RAID Controller Card | eBay
I have only had success using adaptors to convert from SATA to IDE. The only time I had to do it the other way round I gave up and bought a PCI IDE adaptor card like the one above.
There are two types of adaptors: IDE drive to SATA port and SATA drive to IDE port. Presumably he’s go the right type.
+1 to check that the drive is set for master since each SATA port supports one drive.

So it has been a long time since I used one of these, but the little board could be used either way though using it as suggested by the OP did not always work, but was intermittent it its operation (SATA to IDE). The documentation was almost worthless and surely did not help define its exact usage.
Thank You,
No, they are not intended to be used both ways unless specifically mentioned. There are two types, or should we say three types. Ask oldcpu, he was looking at some at a retailer some time ago.
