IDE or SATA

Thats what im getting from a SATA drive. Its telling me its using IDE bus instead of SATA 3GB/s. How can i fix this?

Thanks

There are settings in the BIOS that tell the controller how you want the SATA drives handled for reasons of compatibility with different OSes. Especially when mixing SATA and IDE drives on the same system. You can try different settings to see which works best.

Careful though. Changing certain settings can cause the drive to require you to reinstall the OS to make it usable. It won’t destroy the data there, and going back to a previous setting should bring it back to normal. Just a suggestion, I would recommend backing your data up before doing this.

and never forget rule one: If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

i just looked and see that my SATA also says it is using the IDE bus,
and i’m not gonna mess with it…

Yep, i already checked my BIOS, and everywhere i looked, it seemed to be correctly configured for it to use SATA Bus.
Also checked phisically on the drives itself to see if the jumpers where correct. They were.
