The packages and descriptions of the packages are housed on
Novell’s site for opensuse 11.0 and 11.1. What I’d like to
see is the same for 11.2. Doesn’t have to be on Novell’s
site… but I find it useful (my inventory system knows how
to build the links to the pages at Novell).
Should I take the time to build these same package descriptions for all the openSUSE products and post to suse.com or can someone post these to opensuse.org?

OK, I see now - I think probably most people using the products use zypper
or the package management (or http://software.opensuse.org/search ) to
find packages.
I’m guessing that you have something to do with the suse.com website?
(Sorry if I should recognize that from your username) - if so, what is
the value proposition that you see from the SUSE business?
We’d have to contact someone on the openSUSE web team, but if there’s
value in doing the work, I don’t see why not…for that matter, it could
be added to the wiki where you (or someone else) could maintain it.
I was hoping there was already a solution there but I don’t think it’s very likely the community would be able to support this. We wrote a JSP to parse the package descriptions that are read by zypper and find that people do search for these on the web, especially prior to choosing a distribution. We’ll leave the openSUSE package descriptions on Linux OS | SUSE Linux Enterprise for now and work to get all the latest versions there as well. See the first post in this thread for a hint at the demand for it.

OIC, that makes some sense.
Alan Clark or Bryen Yunashko might be able to help with this - they’re on
the openSUSE board and I think the board probably would be in a much
better position to help direct this to the right people.
