Hello to everybody

I updated from suse 11.00 to 11.1, immediately the web cam stopped to work.
I looked at the link HCL/Web Cameras - openSUSE and I made the one-click install, but I don’t find the package gspcav1-kmp-default…

Any help would be very apreciate.

Thank you for cooperation.

Amos

when you say

but I don’t find the package gspcav1-kmp-default…

can you tell us what this means please

Thank you for your reply.

Looking at the link above said I found that my web cam is listed in http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html

I made one-click install,

Then I followed the instructions:

“Then open YaST -> Software Management
In the Search window enter “spca”.
If your kernel-version is below 2.6.11 (SUSE Linux 10.1 or earlier), select package “spca5xx-kmp-default”. If your kernel-version is 2.6.11 or newer (openSUSE 10.2), select package “gspcav1-kmp-default”.”

But I didn’t find any “gspcav1-kmp-default” pckage…

I don’t know if I am right?

Thank you again.

we have

gspcav1-kmp-default

installed in our system; sadly, I forget the wherefors and how it happened

but I see it came from http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html

I see we have the repository detailed below in our list of active repositories

Index of /repositories/drivers:/webcam/openSUSE_11.0

so I think this “parent repository” got the gspac from mxhaard

do you have the open suse one for drivers? What about adding it and trying again;

ours is for 11.0 and so you may want the 11.1 version

Thank you again.

If I have understood I have to add repo
Index of /repositories/drivers:/webcam/openSUSE_11.0

and try to find
gspcav1-kmp-default

and try to install it.

I added the repo, now I have in Yast->software management the above package but when I try to install it I get t5he following message:

“The are asome conflicts that to be managed manually:
Anything provide kernel-default necessary to gspcav1-kmp-default t20071224_2.6.25.5_1.1-10.4.i586”

I don’t know if I got you?

ps:

Linux linux-carla 2.6.27.7-9-pae #1 SMP 2008-12-04 18:10:04 +0100 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux

if you could please “copy and paste” the exact error message, it would be very helpful

I just got the error message. I first got it thought the web-browser link. Second I tried the following:

<PRE>zypper in gspcav1-kmp-default
Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
‘gspcav1-kmp-default’ not found.
Resolving package dependencies…
Nothing to do.</PRE>

I am running a 64 bit system, if that makes a difference. I have the repository in my list of repositories:
URL: Index of /repositories/drivers:/webcam/openSUSE_11.1

If I search for “gspcav1” in Software Management, I find find nothing. I searched for “kmp”, and found nothing like "gspcav1*.

Any help would be appreciated.

The first error I got by using the web-browser link was:
“Software installation
Installation was only partially successful.
The following packages could not be installed
gspcav1-kmp-default”

Hi
Those modules are all part of the kernel now, no need to build?

/sbin/modinfo gspca_zc3xx
filename: /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/kernel/drivers/media/video/gspca/gspca_zc3xx.ko
license: GPL
description: GSPCA ZC03xx/VC3xx USB Camera Driver
....
.....
depends: gspca_main,usbcore

Try a modprobe on gspca_main and see what happens…
