Icons has strange things around

I have this, are they called artefacts? around the icons, that was not always the case. Is there a solution?

@jeroenvt What graphics card in use? Can you show the output from inxi -GSaz please.

@jeroenvt and it’s only the dock it’s seen? You have the default theme, icons etc in use?

If you create a test user and log in as that user does it duplicate?

No, I see it on webpages, in the menu in the upper right. I created another user, it’s the same. This happened after I reinstalled opensuse. Maybe I do another reinstall and keep my fingers crossed.

@jeroenvt no, don’t reinstall… So if you add a file called /etc/environment and in that file add the following line;

GSK_RENDERER=gl

Reboot, does that make a difference?

I have similar hardware graphics wise, it’s running Tumbleweed, if above doesn’t help I can install Leap 16.0 to investigate further.

I think that worked.

@jeroenvt So that was a Mesa issue if it’s fixed?

Apparently, tnx.

@jeroenvt OK, I’ll setup a test system when I get a chance, I’ve asked my GNOME contacts for further infomation as might need a bug report.

hmmm, I was too early, the problem returned.

BTW, it is only with Gnome on Wayland, not with KDE.

@jeroenvt OK, will setup a test system. I knew it was GNOME, that’s what I use here too :wink:

@jeroenvt and you have run both zypper inr and zypper up? I can’t duplicate here…

@jeroenvt and were packages installed? If so have you rebooted?

When does this happen, when you log in, after suspend, close the laptop lid?

rebooted a couple of times. I start my laptop, then sometimes the icons from the little menu in the top right look strange, after a while more parts of the screen do the same. I started Files, the whole window wasn’t readable anymore.

@jeroenvt your sure it’s not a hardware issue? If when it happens you close the laptop lid, what a minute and open does it clear?
