How does one get the clock to show up on the taskbar in IceWM in openSUSE 12.2? I thought it should be there by default but it isn’t.
In ~/.icewm/preferences I have:
TaskBarShowClock=1

Go to Yast software management, and install “icewm-default”. You are probably running “icewm-lite” which is the standard install. Switching to the default version gives a more functional panel.
It will warn you that icewm-lite will be uninstalled.
After that change, you should logout then login again. It’s possible that logout won’t work, due to deleting icewm-lite breaking your session. If that happens, CTRL-ALT-BKSPACE (twice) will get you out.
These days, I select icewm-default during the initial install. I seem to recall that when I first made the switch to the default version, I was running Yast from within KDE rather than from within icewm.
Thanks very much, that worked. And by the way, logging out worked fine.
Also install
