Dunno, but you can look around /etc/pm/* and /usr/lib/pm-utils/*, and find
out how it’s done.

i mean while entering the hibernation. during the time while the memory copy is put to the disk.
did you really not get this or do you just not like my question?

Hi,

Well actually I understood the same thing as Swerdna - “while hibernating” (your original text) and “while entering the hibernation” (what you are now saying) are two different things…

Anyway, have a look at :

SDB:Suspend to RAM - openSUSE
and at
SDB:Suspend to disk - openSUSE

HTH

Lenwolf.

ok i guess i should explain myself a little more.
yes i read the howto on the opensuse page and even on the tuxonice page.
i assumed that everybody else using opensuse 11.4 does not have a splash screen as well as i do not have it while entering(!) or resuming from(!) the hibernate mode.

so everyone please tell me. does the splash screen work for you in opensuse 11.4?

on my 2 systems i get the following message:
“looking for splash system… splashy_start_splash: error -10 none”

it would really surprise me if this would work for anyone out of the box with 11.4 or tumbleweed.

hope this explains my problem to anyone.
if not: forget about it!
if so and if you have an answer: please reply

Yes, but I always disable it.

Would you like help with your problem? or are you just trying to aggravate?

I am using 11.4 + tumbleweed. I don’t see splash screen while entering hibernating too. I would be nice to have some if someone know how to do it.

I know this was an answer to Carlos but I cannot resist to comment.
@soliton:
I hope you are aware that some people have more than one system? I also do
not list all I have access to or I play with.

The signature you see refers to one installation on one machine. I have
more of both. And yes, the splash display works on all of them, and I
always disable it.

Tunbleweed questions are handled on another subforum. Did you ask there?

Check the hibernation log, perhaps it says why.
