I think you guys have finally converted me completly from windows.
Ive been fighting the microsoft flu since dos 6.0. I have literally tried for years to get everything that I need working on a linux box, and have always had one problem or another, one piece of software, or a driver. (Usually beacuse I tend to buy cool hardware before I find out it works in linux, **** you x-fi)
Im finally here. I wish I could shake all of your guys hands.
Lol ive literally been trying to to get away from windows since SuSe Linux 8.2 Professional (I bought a boxed version… ive still got the books and cds to prove it too lol.)
I do not think that I had any cause in convicting you.
But just as a normal user (of openSUSE and these English part of the forums)
I wish to welcome you in the forums!
You read to be fairly experienced with openSUSE, but in case there are some areas where you wish to brush up on basics or details, you could take a read here:
please also be certain to check out our stickies here: New User How To/FAQ (read only)
*]and also each forum area has a stickie at the top of the forum area. Please also check out those.
Sorry. I may have sometimes a very special kind of humor but this time it was just a fault in spelling
(and I think a click on the second instead on the first of the suggestions of the spell checker) .
I meant “convincing”.
And I hope openSUSE may absorb and fascinate but also may make you feel free from many other bonds or handcuffs!
Yeah, Linux is today much better and quicker in many ways then windows is.
Example, i installed myself a windows partition for some games Mine is WinXP and it took me 3 hours to apply every patch included. What time wasted.
Linux on the other hand was quicker to install and, the servers were quicker too.
Most of the tasks are easily done with linux and i believe everyone can use it.
And, most importantly, you here in the forum where help is at hand. So if you every get lost, here are always people to help. My knowledge is limited, but i know the admins know more then i ever will.

Welcome to openSUSE there Donald879 and depending on which x-fi card you have, it most likely does now work with Linux. I have not purchased a really new one lately, so it is hard to judge them, but you should have better luck than before. Also, when looking at the really new things, consider nVidia video cards as they in general work very well. Wireless support seems to be the real sticking point these days, even with lots and lots of devices supported. The newer it is (wireless), the less likely you can get it to work. Still, I would like to add that in the area of Multimedia, I have been able to beat Windows performance with DVD’s and even playing iTunes Movie Trailers, on every computer I have worked with so far, so Linux is WAY AHEAD of Windows in many many areas, such as speed. You may have to work at it and that is where our help in this forum is so important.
