I purchased a USB External HDD and...

I want to thank all of you that posted to my thread:
(http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/hardware/449164-im-going-buy-usb-external-harddrive-any-recomendations.html)
I got a Seagate Expansion HDD 640GB & it works without any problems in Opensuse 11.3 KDE4. In fact using it is waaaaay easier than I thought it’d be. I had visions of having to partition & format none of which I really wanted to do, worse yet messing with the fstab. You guys effectively told me I didn’t have to worry about that so I didn’t. It turned out with no fuss & no muss. I’m quite happy it does everything I want with 95GB over my Specs.
You all helped to alleviate the fears I had.
One more thing I wrote the Seagate Expansion into the HCL in the wiki.

Good to hear.
Thanks for adding to the wiki

Assuming no reformatting and Windows ready, what format did it come with?

Great news. I think your asking for suggestions BEFORE purchasing is a great idea. I do the same myself, and while many times it is not necessary, many other times it has made my life in Linux significantly easier with Linux. The community we have for such support is one of the great things that I like about this Linux operating system (and indeed this openSUSE distribution).

@ conusused
I’m relatively sure that it’s NTFS. My HDD does real well with Windows & as I understand it an NTFS driver is in the kernel.

@oldcpu
I totally agree;)

Adding to the wiki was my pleasure.
