(On tumbleweed) i’ve got the nvidia repo installed, but after a week of not updating the packages, it does not work. I assume the graphics drivers are outdated. When i used CLI YaST to delete the repository, i had a few problems and i dont wanna do it again. Any solutions?
Hi
Need to see some output from inxi -GSaz would help ![]()
Tell me which part of it, i dont wanna run inxi with any flag then post the whole thing online.
This is what we need. There is zero personal or private data included…
Fair enough, you cant see much with hardware.

I think that just translates to:
Device-1: NVIDIA TU116 [GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER] vendor: xxxhiddenxxx
driver: N/A alternate: nouveau non-free: 550-6xx.xx+ status: current (as of 2026-07)
so no driver engaged for whatever reason. So the next step is looking at:
zypper lr -d
zypper se -si nvidia
So sorry, the -z flag makes it so private information isnt printed i was concerned and it looks like i did it on purpose for trolling. Anyways, my gpu vendor is ASUS and the terminal says specifically ASUSTeK
N/A stands for no analytics. Respectfully, There are analytics here, im on nouveau after i deleted that repo and reinstalled it, and i probably did something wrong. The commands you suggested me to run didnt work. 2 repositories are also disabled for some reason
openSUSE:repo-oss-debug | repo-oss-debug | No | ---- | ---- | - | 99 | N/A | http://cdn.opensuse.org/debug/tumbleweed/repo/oss | openSUSE
openSUSE:repo-oss-source | repo-oss-source | No | ---- | ---- | - | 99 | N/A | http://cdn.opensuse.org/source/tumbleweed/repo/oss | openSUSE
(sorry for making it hard to read) Are those related with the graphics drivers by any chance? They are system repositories after all.
Also, ive installed compute utils G06.

LT-B:~ #
@Boulino Hi the “N/A” means no driver installed, it should either be nouveau or nvidia in this position, else modesetting will be loaded.
With the inxi -GSaz output we are looking at two things, ensuring the nouveau driver is blacklisted in the kernel options, for example;
System:
Kernel: 7.1.8-1-default arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 16.2.0
clocksource: tsc avail: hpet,acpi_pm
parameters: initrd=\opensuse-tumbleweed\7.1.8-1-default\initrd-7e3136b986326ee58db308a2a4527050a04d8885

nvidia_drm.modeset=1 rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau <=======
rd.driver.blacklist=nova-core loglevel=2 psi=1
rootflags=subvol=@/.snapshots/1/snapshot
Second is the driver, for example with Nvidia;
Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA TU104GL [Quadro RTX 4000] vendor: Hewlett-Packard
driver: nvidia v: 610.43.02 alternate: nouveau,nvidia_drm
non-free: 550-6xx.xx+ status: current (as of 2026-07) arch: Turing

active: DP-1 empty: DP-2,DP-3,Unknown-1 bus-ID: 65:00.0 chip-ID: 10de:1eb1
class-ID: 0300
With Nouveau;
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel Ivy Bridge mobile GT2 [HD Graphics 4000] vendor: Apple
driver: i915 v: kernel arch: Gen-7 process: Intel 22nm built: 2012-13 ports:
active: none empty: VGA-1 bus-ID: 00:02.0 chip-ID: 8086:0166

Device-2: NVIDIA GK107M [GeForce GT 650M Mac Edition] vendor: Apple
driver: nouveau v: kernel non-free: series: 470.xx+

empty: DP-1,DP-2,HDMI-A-1 bus-ID: 01:00.0 chip-ID: 10de:0fd5
class-ID: 0300 temp: 34.0 C
If you use the run file, ensure that dracut -f --regenerate-all is run so that the blacklist file is included, one can check on reboot with lsinitrd | grep -E "nvidia|nouveau"
Those two debug repositories are disabled by default, nothing to worry about there.
Okay. Here is the output of zypper lr -d (ignore the deepin DE)

Edit by Sauerland:
Please use Code-Tags, see f. e. here:
Code-Tags
It is easier for you and more readable as you can see.

as said, use Code-Tags…
You repos are OK.
Your GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GPU supports the G07 drivers, so uninstall all G06 packages.
There is currently a mismatch in the Nvidia repo, see this thread for details.
If you need more help please ask.
Okay, thanks. Perhaps could you tell me how to uninstall all G06 packages and install G07 properly?
Uninstall is easiest with Myrlyn (or the old YaST-Software if you are fond of it).
Due to the current mismatch in the drivers, download nvidia-open-driver-G07-signed-kmp-default-595.84_k7.1.8_1-2.6.x86_64.rpm to a local directory and manually install it, then lock it for the time being (with Myrlyn or YaST).
Then perform a zypper dup, that should bring in the other G07 pieces, find a conflict, offer options (choose “Keep obsolete nvidia-open-driver-G07-signed-kmp-default-595.84_k7.1.8”).
After that reboot to the new 7.1.8 kernel and the new G07 driver (at least I hope so, I don’t have such HW to test).
When i did the installation for the package you sent me, heres the output The selected package 'nvidia-open-driver-G07-signed-kmp-default-595.84_k7.1.8_1-2.6.x86_64' from repository 'Plain RPM files cache' has lower version than the installed one. Use 'zypper install --oldpackage nvidia-open-driver-G07-signed-kmp-default-595.84_k7.1.8_1-2.6.x86_64' to force installation of the package. I feel like something is gonna break if force it
Yes, force-install and then lock, otherwise it will be wiped on next zypper dup
Do i have to do that on the kernel?
No lock needed on the kernel, if that is what you mean.
