hi all
I need someone can help me. I have to install nagios on opensuse 11.2 but for that. I need install some packages like apache http server, gcc compiler and libraries GD. The problem is this, if i search the packages with yast it shows a big list! that i don’t know what i need to install.
If anyone can help me, please

Simplemente usa zypper desde una terminal y deja que te calcule las
dependencias, zypper in nagios, ahi te va a mostrar la lista de los
paquetes que necesites instalar.

YaST > Software > Software management. Search for nagios in the search field. Select it at right for install and carry on. YaST will warn you that it is also going to install also … Accept and all the dependencies will be installed also.

short version: you see all of those packages because to use nagios you
have to have the things on that list also…

is this the nagios you want: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagios

if so, it is a monitoring program which will monitor apache and other
networking programs (if you are not using apache what is it you want
to monitor with nagios?)…i don’t know why it needs a compiler but
in my experience when YaST gives me a list of “dependencies” i accept
them…

While as a moderator I’m a big fan of our forum , … still, may I humbly suggest that if you have an URGENT need then you should also consider the IRC chat channel freenode #suse where one sometimes get a reply a lot faster than our forum (although as you can see by the excellent response that you received that our membership does its best to reply quickly).
