If you need to do this, type “fdisk /dev/sdX” where X is the appropriate
letter. Type “m” for help, “a” to activate/deactivate the boot flag. When
done, use “w” to write the changes and “q” to exit.

It doesn’t matter what tool you use, if you are happy with it.

Thank you all for being so generous with advice and knowledge. After the /dev/sda dd copy for boot.ini, the fixmbr process allowed me to boot all operating systems from my 1st drive, and I am now cloning that drive with xxclone.
