Expensive does not necessarily mean better
HCL/Sound Cards - openSUSE
caf4926,
if you have my system and the money which one would you take and my speaker are Logitech G51 5.1?
Please can you tell me,if it takes few days and I can wait:).
Don`t be in rash.
Please let me know.
Mike
In a rash? You mean rush.
Well something like this:
Amazon.com: Creative Labs SB0570L4 Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card: Computers & PC Hardware
I’m not in US/Canada of course but I used amazon dot com as an example.
I suggest you take the normal Audigy2 or 1, do not take any of the SE/LE or other models because they often slightly vary from the reference one and may cause issues - just make sure it’s one that has 5.1 support and possibly digital out if your speakers support it (most likely they don’t so the normal minijack for front and back + bass will do)
You should be able to get one really, really cheap nowadays.
There you go Mike, Heidi knows her stuff. Take the advice on board.
Hehe, don’t make me float away now caf.
Well if you happen to find a different model for a really really good bargain, take a look at the HCL or Google to see if Alsa has had any issues with it or even post here and post everything you saw in the ad/ebay/whatever.
As a sidenote some Audigy 4’s are actually re-badged Audigy 2’s but I’ve heard some of them are not fully supported and may again cause issues, which you definitely do not want so be careful with those.
I`ll looked at that X-Fi Xtreme Music HCL/Sound Cards - openSUSE I got the same Audio card comes with my motherboard and it is supported by Suse11.1 :O.
Thnx all of you and I appreciate for helping me.
Mike
Well I have no choice to get Audigy SE or is there more?
Well be nice to be back and what about that Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Internal Sound Card: Electronics will it work?
Look at the price…!
I think you were advised to go for something like
Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card: Electronics
Yes, the one caf pointed out would serve you well, infact I have an identical card running under Linux that only needed the alsa-firmware which YAST installed automatically!
Paying several hundred for a sound card is completely unnecessary! Just get the 40$ one.
Ok caf the one you are pointing out [Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Internal Sound Card: Electronics"]http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-Blaster-Audigy-Internal/dp/B0000CG4DI/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_5#moreAboutThisProduct]Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Internal Sound Card: Electronics](http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-Blaster-Audigy-Internal/dp/B0000CG4DI/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_5#moreAboutThisProduct) if is the same one then I will get the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS:.
Advice given. Take it or leave it Mike.
Just get the cheaper one, there is no sense in paying almost 300 for an old card. Seriously - just take the 40$ one
Ok so now I will talk to my friend he can get about $10 less Amazon.com: C-Media CMI8768 8-channel PCI Sound Card: Computers & PC Hardware or to see about [Amazon.com:%20Creative%20Labs%20Sound%20Blaster%20Audigy%202%20ZS%20Internal%20Sound%20Card:%20Electronics"]http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-Blaster-Audigy-Internal/dp/B0000CG4DI/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_5#moreAboutThisProduct]Amazon.com:%20Creative%20Labs%20Sound%20Blaster%20Audigy%202%20ZS%20Internal%20Sound%20Card:%20Electronics](http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-Blaster-Audigy-Internal/dp/B0000CG4DI/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_5#moreAboutThisProduct)
and I will let you know next week.
I`ll thank you all of you,I appreciate for your help.
Mike
I hope you’re pasting the wrong card because me and caf were advocating for:
Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card: Electronics
That one, not the 300 one… (This is Sparta!)
Chrysantine
I really appreciate you if you can explain me please about that
Amazon.com: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card: Electronics
and about the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Internal Sound Card is it only about the price ?:\
They’re essentially the same card, the ZS only has the “external bay” and for your uses it’s completely useless - you do not need it. As far as drivers, sound and otherwise quality goes, they’re as far as normal users are concerned the same card.
Save money, just buy the 40$ one. Please
