I was looking about the troubleshooting cant find it. The problem is,when I restart my computer I can listen the sound, when I log in. But if I listen yahoo no sound at all and when I listen to music with Amarok no sound. I can
t figure out how to fix that.

Should I try head -n 1 /proc/asound/card0/codec first?
You probably just need to set the correct channel in the sound mixer in the panel
Check if you have mplayerplug-in installed. Also check which sound engine you have selected under amarok.
As per suggestion by @oldcpu
I would recommend you check amarok is using the xine engine and that you have installed amarok-packman and amarok-xine
this image shows kde4 version
use one or the other
maybe your kmix’s setting has an error
What I try is,I copying what 1michael1 wrote I type in at Konsole alsaconf and I have sound after that I type alsactl store.
I restart my computer it works and I try about four time and the last time I restart again no sound at all.
I was looking in the sound configuration my **AUDIGY **is not configured. My on board sound card from motherboard Azalia HDAC is disabled.
?Install Soundfonts
Should Yast install the wavetable sound fonts from your Soundblaster live! or AWE drive CD?
Should Yast install the wavetable sound fonts from your Soundblaster live! or AWE drive CD?
yes no and I say no .
Index Card model
0 SB0090Audigy Player/OEM
Why does it happen all the time.
I type in Konsole alsaconf afterwards I have sound.I can see in Yahoo Video and have sound.
I use Amarok I can listen music.
When I restard I don`t have the no sound at all, what is going on with it???.
What is the reason you do not have sound when you restart? Did you check your mixer to see if it is just volume levels (PCM, Master, Speaker) that default to a low value when you restart? or perhaps it is another reason?
When checking your mixer, take a good look at this post/guide for your audigy card:
[Solution] Creative Audigy 1/2 + 11.0 + KDE/GNOME + ALSA - openSUSE Forums](http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/386773-solution-creative-audigy-1-2-11-0-kde-gnome-alsa.html)
If it is not your mixer, and if after a restart, instead of running alsaconf, try running as a regular user: su -c ‘rcalsasound restart’ and enter your root password when prompted.
If that works, then “rcalsasound restart” can be put in a file that will run it automatically every time you boot your PC.
So I should first alsaconf and afterwards su -c 'rcalsasound restart?
No.
If after restarting your PC , if you have no sound, then INSTEAD of alsaconf, try instead
su -c ‘rcalsasound restart’
I try and what is happen when I restarted I listening my speaker like click very short,so my speaker is working.Just about few second ago I watched yahoo video no sound.
Oh is it because I disable in bios the sound chip of my motherboard, can be that I don`t have sound?
Suse-Beginner, I know you must be very frustrated … but in order to help you need to be clear as to whether it is ALL your sound that is not working, or just yahoo video. :\ Because if you are not clear, then I won’t be clear. And I am not smart enough to provide good recommendations when things are not clear.
Now, when testing to see if your sound works, yahoo video is a HORRIBLE TEST! Please instead use the test from the link you were already given.
SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE - speaker tests
So, when your yahoo video sound is not working, is sound anywhere else working?
I just turn on my computer and thank you oldcpu I get sound when I login and out,so far so good:).
I try playing video no sound and I play my own music no sound.
But I try:
speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
Playback device is plug:front
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory and it`s going on and on…
It is good news that we getting ahead;).
Just now I`m in yast and look again I configured my sound card last time now it is not configured again.Which one should I click on edit/add to configure my sound (Audigy1 sb0090/OEM) card?
OK, so you get sound without having to type “alsaconf” and without having to type " rcalsasound restart ".
this could be a codec issue.
You need to try both speaker-tests. Often only one of the two will work. Try the 2nd speaker test.
Reference your codecs, I recommend you set up your software package manager repositories with 4 and only 4 repositories, where repositories are file servers on the internet with applications, drivers and codecs. Please follow the guidance here and setup Packman, Oss, Non-Oss, and Update. Just those 4. No others. None. If you have others then remove the others. Repositories - openSUSE-Community Click on your openSUSE version and follow the advice to setup just those 4 repositories.
Do NOT setup videolan repository. To have it and Packman at the same time without problems requires a level of Linux knowledge that takes time to acquire.
Once those 4 are setup, go to YaST > Software > Software Management and change “filter” to “search” and search for the packman packaged versions of amarok, amarok-xine, amarok-packman, libxine1, xine-ui, smplayer, mplayerplug-in, vlc, libffmpeg0, w32codec-all, xvidcore, libxvidcore4, libquicktime0. Select the packman packaged versions and NOT the Novell/SuSE-GmbH versions. You can tell packman packaged versions by the “pm” in the version number.
That will get you started.
So I hardware->sound-> and tested The lady saying Fron left and front right sound is there nowlol!
Ooooh Boy I installed videolan this morning,so should I del. videolan or should I Disable it?.
