I recently got a SATA-6 SSD and I must say the the difference is amazing. I reinstalled to it but only put root on it. /home is still on a 7200rpm 500Gb hard drive so this must add a bit of a delay. The total system boot time is about 45 seconds including BIOS, Grub (8 seconds), etc. The actual time from when it loads the ramdisk to the KDE desktop (auto login) is about 20 - 25 seconds but I did not have a stopwatch out 
SSD - Best upgrade you can get for your system!
