Ok I am realy new to this, I have a PC and I had Windows crash so I thought now is the chance to make the switch. First I tried a DVD from a magazine, Mandravia it started loading then hang, so I thought ok everyone telling me Ubuntu so I dl’d it burned it and yeah it atleast got to a screen that let me do some sort of partioning and then asked me for mount points and told me there is an error and stopped. Ok so I surfed a little and came across opensuse and how it has the best installer :), it does start but I get a square running across my monitor that says “Not Optimum Mode, Recommended Mode : 1280x1024 60hz ? Analog” I had my Monitor set to that resolution befor I screwed up Windows I know that and it says at the bottom of the install screen 1280x1024 so I asume thats what it is. Anyhow this message keeps going across the screen and the background turns black and nothing else happens. Any ideas what I did wrong and what I could try to get to the bottom of it? There is no data that needs to be saved on this drive so if I have to I will format it.
Thanks for any tips that lead to the resurection of my PC. Stirling
Weird. Is there any way to change your desktop resolution just so it fits then needs of the installer. Usually, every Linux Installer is ran in 1024x768. It’s the default value. There might be a slight chance that it gives and error because the proportion is the the same, but I doubt it. Is there anything you can possibly do ? Or that like just keeps going across for no reason.
Ok after reding some other posts I came across a couple of people having issues, seems everyone here explains it more technical I will have to learn that :). Anyhow to solve the issue I had to press F3 at the 1st screen and select Vesa instead of the preset 1280x1024 option.
Hope this will help another poor soul stuck in Install Lala Land rotfl!
Thanks for helping I didnt mean u with the technical stuff I ment over all the language seems more technical in linux forums then windows. I am at 84% installed now keeping fingers crossed I got it
