If you have only just installed, it might be quicker to install again,just keep /home as it is.

Try turning on your CAPSLOCK and see if it was on when you assigned the
password. Try some permutations of the password also. Sometimes we don’t
have our fingers aligned over the keys so instead of ‘pony’ we type ‘ony’
without knowing it. HTH.
