Hi @all,
some time ago I thought about switching to OpenSuse, from Ubuntu. At this time I thought that Ubuntu 9.10 will not make it for me, but I gave it a try and I also did the step onto 10.04.
But 10.04 was the end of the Ubuntu-Road for me, as it is so buggy and… I started to feel strange with this system.
I also was a big fan of KDE in the past and I also had Kubuntu on my computer for a while but specially Kubuntu 10.04 was even more buggy than the Gnome-Ubuntu, so I had to wipe it immediatly from my hard disk. I never have seen so many crashes in a Linux system before than with Kubuntu 10.04… unbelievable.
Additionally a friend of me also uses Open Suse for a long time. So I did the step. And now I am a satisfied user of OpenSuse 11.3 64-Bit with KDE 4.5.2 and it is great! I really love it.
It is actually the first time that I use a Linux system which has a real control center (YaST) and it is amazing.
Also the optics and the implementation of KDE into the system: amazing. Everything is so polished and looks so professional…
System stability and reliability is also in a much higher level than in current (K)Ubuntu versions - at least for me and I always think “upps hopefully the system does not crash” when I start some hard tasks, being used to crashes all over the place in (K)Ubuntu… Hopefully in the near future my confidence in system reliability comes back, after using OpenSuse for a while.
so I just wanted to say cheers and a big Thank you to all who have done such an awesome job in developing OpenSuse 11.3!
