I recently updated to the newest version of SuSE (i’ve been having
ubuntu for more than 2 years now) and I’ve noticed that … either the
browser (tried many different onces: the KDE integraded one, mozilla,
opera and others) is loaded very slowly, or it cannot connect to my
network souce very well (it’s a wireless connection thru a router). When
I boot Vista and i use Google Chrome it takes the most 5 secs to load
any page, no matter what content. While loading in SuSE has been taking
quite a while. My download speed comparison is - Vista → about 2mb/sec
, Downloading from the same destination and the same exact file in opera
ran in SuSE → 50 kb/sec max, 44 average. That’s crazy. I cannot
explain it. Anyone has an explanation??
I don’t use wireless but haven’t noticed any difference between windows
or linux on a wired network. Perhaps there is something wrong with the
wireless settings. Try a straight ftp site for comaparison. If there is
still a problem, try posting in the network section.
I actually configured some stuff arround the user controls and right now
its downloading as fast as 350mb/sec from ftp. That’s much better thou,
i really hate going back into vista just to download something faster…
had a similar problem and disabling the ipv6 support solved my erratic
connection. go to yast2/Network Devices/Network Settings/Global Options
and untick the ipv6 support.
