Hello , I used to use SO windows so few days ago my laptop crach anyway the point is that now i use linux openSUSE 11.4. It’s the first time when i use linux i like it (even if i don’t “understant” to much im sure i will get use to it" So , i have a game Shot Online(MMORPG type) , i read in some forums that you need a WINE program for games so i used this program , i downloaded the game ive installed the game in /root/downloads/ now i go for terminal /root/downloads/ and use this command: wine ShotOnline.exe , the window game witch is an update and settings window , start , the game updates and everything seems ok , until i press start and the game doesn’t run . in the terminal says something like this… (and the game doesn’t start at all)

i`m new at linux i don’t know so much , if you can tell me please what i did wrong or maybe it’s just impossble to play this game ,

Hello again , i will update this thread.
I downloadez the missing files MSVCP60.dll , and SpeedTreeRT.dll , i put them in the game folder and now i try again to run the game
wine ShootOnline.exe
game updates , as usual then i press start game , and this those error are now gone .
but my next problem is that this game has an nProtect Guard program , witch doesn’t let pe play this game.and the error mesage is something like this
“GameGuard Reset error . Please Reboot and play again . Or please close other program which has the ability to crush with the game and play again”
terminal mesage error is something like this >

can any1 tell me if i can make somehow work that nProtectGuard ?
First of all don’t run anything logged in as root especially Wine. Instead use the sudo command from your standard user account but only in case it’s absolutely necessary. It’s just needed to install Wine and shouldn’t be needed for anything else.
My second advice is to look on the WineHQ for advice on specific games as this is the best resource for running applications under Wine.

As You can see this game doesn’t run well with wine so there’s really nothing You can do to play it under wine. Compare this with WoW which is very playable under linux :

So to sum up before trying to install anything under wine check the wine AppDB and see the rating for the application. If it’s anything lower than gold just don’t bother to try make it work.
