I did not get 'migrated'

I had one account on each one of the (older) community forums. I always used the same login name on both of them (TioDuke). The e-mail address I used (the same I am using now) was the same in both cases.

However, I did not get merged to these new forums nor did I receive any e-mail telling me there were problems with my accounts. I had to subscribe myself and ‘port’ my user info from the oldest forums. Why wasn’t my account migrated? Is there a way I could get my history back?: I noticed that my posts on the other forums were migrated as ‘Tioduke Guest’.

Can someone solve these annoyances? Thank you in advance.

Hi Todduke,

Sorry to hear it went sour for you…
You posts should still be in here in the archives, but as you may notice, all other members have also lost their history to (was heading for 700 posts myself).

I haven’t been part of the merger so don’t know the details and although sad for us, I think re-hooking the archives (which are read only and maybe even in a second database?) to your current account would be a very big job and would get messed up and slow down things.

I think you’ve done most (pulling your ‘old’ details over) of it already.

Guess we share the ‘being reset’ feeling, but I think once you find your way (and the new site features) it will quickly make up for it.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,
Wj

TioDuke,

Nobody was migrated. We ran into a few technical glitches that would not allow us to import members from SUSE Forums.net or SUSE Linux Support.de. See the announcement we made last week.

All the things you miss when you go on holiday for a week! Thanks for the link Andrew.

Sorry. I did not notice.

Thank you for your fast replies.

See you around.

Andrew, when I click on your link I get redirected to the root page of the new forums.

I too was busy last week and missed the memo. Glad to see that it wasn’t a failure to follow directions on my part though.

Yea, both domains now forward here. anyways, short answer, importing the passwords to the database was not possible, and after some thought, send 27k emails to people is just asking for trouble. So they forwent all the trouble and started fresh, it does suck that we lost our post count and history. But on the other hand…the team can now focus on adding new features and keeping the forums in good order instead of dealing with DB errors.

I’m actually kinda glad everything is new here. Clean slate…you know?
