I can hear sounds oh amarok, kafeine and everything, but when i go to youtube the sound not come out… why?
What happens if after a fresh reboot you do NOT run any multimedia app, but then run firefox and go to youtube. Does sound work then in youtube? Do NOT forget to immediately check your PCM volume control in your mixer after starting a video in youtube to ensure its volume setting is UP (this can be dynamically down at zero - some users have reported this).
Also, if using KDE ensure your graphic card selection in YaST > Hardware > Sound matches your graphic card selection in Kmenu > Configure Desktop > Multimedia
I check everything, not works.
yeah, i check this, and everything it’s right.
i have a sound blaster card from creative.
I just started using openSUSE today. I installed the 11.2 GNOME version and I had this exact same issue.
As per your advice, I loaded youtube on startup and it worked!
Is there a permanent fix? Thank you.
You can always check to see what application has seized the sound device by typing:
lsof /dev/dsp* /dev/audio* /dev/mixer* /dev/snd/*
