I’m using openSUSE 11.1 and MSI K9N6PGM2 motehrboard which works good except the sound. Everytime I start this error message pops up.

The audio placyback device HDA NVidia (ALC888 Analog) does not work. Falling back to default.
So I can’t get any sound from youtube or the games but when I log out/shut down it plays a little song. So at least something work.
This is what it says

I don’t have an old sound card and I said I can get the log out sound but not the others
The fact that your log out sound works suggests to me your sound is ok, and this is likely a problem with either your mixer setup (check master, PCM and speaker volumes are set high in your mixer) or with your codecs for nominal multimedia applications.
Some news to the problem. I tried to tweak the mixer set up (like oldcpu said) by right clicking on the speaker symbol in the right corner of KDE 4.1.3 (Plasma) and turned everything on 3D surround and stuff. Then I pushed quit which I thought was save and exit. But now I suspect that it was exit the program. Then I tried youtube and I got sound. But it wasn’t loud enough so I thought that it was because the little speaker on the right corner only were at 77%. The icon was gone so I tried to find the program using YaST/hardware/sound and then the sound disappeared.
My theory is that when I log off openSUSE turns the speaker symbol program off before it plays the log out sound. That’s why I hear it. Can that be true?
