I cann't refresh repositories

Hello,
I’m new in openSuse.
I have a virtual machine with VirtualBox, openSuse 13.1 and I cann’t refresh repositories with sudo zypper ref and I think that it is a problem with my network. I have put proxy on firefox, yast( network device->proxy), system setting (network setting) and configure desktop.
But i have the same problem. what can i do?

thanks and sorry for my bad English.

I think that you should ask a moderator to move this post to the
virtualization subforum (triangle report button below).

Then, question: does the host have network access? If so, what type of
networking have you set for virtualized machine (host only, nat, shared?)

I have network access in my host but i haven’t in this virtual machine with openSuse, I have access with other virtual machine with Ubuntu, I try with Brigde adapter and also I try with NAT.

Thanks for advices

Will be moved to Virtualization and is CLOSED for the moment.

Moved from Looking for something other then support and open again.

I think that I have solved the problem only I put with : port int yast(network device->proxy)

Now I can update repositories.

Thanks

Issue: Can’t update system through Yast, Apper, or Zypper

Opensuse 13.1 64 bit
Desktop environment: KDE
System: Asus Tower 64-bit
2.5 TB & 1. HDD’s
Ram:4GB

It’s been 3+ weeks since I have been able to update my box due to no response to update queries through On-line update, Apper update, and Zypper. The applications try to refresh data, only to time out. I have not been able to locate mirrored repositories either in China, Japan, Korea (either one) or any others located beyond the current locations listed in the ‘additional yast repositories pages’.

To the op’s, If your going to jerk around on why I did or didn’t add ALL the information on every single sub component in my box, the modem, fast switcher, color and shape of my monitor, keyboard, mouse, my preference to use of English as a medium to convey previously mentioned issue in refreshing & updating from the listed repositories. Your job is to help in resolving issues, jerk on your own time.

Sorry, but this is a big misunderstanding from your side. It is not the “job” off anybody here to resolve issues. We are openSUSE users like you. We spend some (often much) of our spare time in trying to help other users in resolvong problems and answering questions. The only reward people here get from time to time is a “thank you, it helped” and of course they are helped in turn with their problems.

I do not think it is very effective in getting volunteers to help you when you start talking to them like this.

Actually no one here is paid to do anything.

You don’t get to make demands, we help you if we know the answer or can help to guide you through the issue - however the help comes with an expectation that people who do spare their personal time are at least treated with certain level of respect. Instead of helping people pro bono, we could be making money by selling the same service - we just choose not to because we like to help.

On that note;

http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/opensuse/

Contains the repositories mirrored you want.

OP = Original Poster

Are you sure your government isn’t blocking access? They seem to want to
control everything else.

Ok, that’s enough, I will not even try to help you.
I’m a volunteer. I’m not paid. It is not my job to help you.
I help people on my free time, for my pleasure, not for being insulted.

If you had not written that paragraph at all, I would have offered some
advice on your problem, I had ideas. As soon as read the last paragraph,
you ejected me out.

Sorry.

Funny that the OP had to change his name. Wonder what that’s about? Maybe he’s a professional troll, or something like that. As well, his English is astoundingly good for someone whose primary language is chinese. Today, it was let out that my government sold-out our country’s resources to China. I wonder if this post is a precursor of what’s to come. I fear it may be the case.

No, the OP, aria2, said that he had solved his problem and could do
updates. He joined this month.

The other one, China_Jobs, seems to have joined on 2009, and has not
posted on a long time.

I do not understand why he behaves that way :frowning:

In that case, I’m wondering if the forum should archive the older posts, say, those older than three years ago (for example). I’ve been noticing a lot of old posts (re-populating?) that are fairly outdated (because the openSUSE version is way out of date, or such). Just a thought.

You better start a thread about this in Forums feedback > Forums Comments/Suggestions. Else your remark may stay unnoticed except by the Virtulization users.

I shall do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
