I can only log as failsafe after installing ATI drivers

I’ve installed my the ATI drivers as per this link:
SDB:ATI drivers - openSUSE

However when trying to reboot on normal mode the OS opens only tty1 (terminal 1?), you know, the one with green theme background.
Fortunately I was able to reboot and log with failsafe. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

What is the ATI card/chip

There are two methods listed on that page which did you do?

The card is an ATI RADEON HD 4550

The method was Using YaST:

  1. Add ATI Repository
  2. Installation (x11-video-fglrxG02 (for HD2000 series and later) )
