I can not start xinetd deamon on openSUSE 11.0

I have vsftpd setup on my openSUSE 11.0 with vsftpd.
when I ftp from command prompt on the same machine, it works fine. But when I ftp from another PC it does not respond. When I checked, xinetd through /etc/init.d/xinetd status it says unused. When I try starting it through /etc/init.d/xinetd start it says failed. I tried starting it through YaST -> System -> System Services -> Expert Mode. It says Returned 7 (programe is not running).
Also, in the Simple mode, xinetd service shows Yes* under enabled. vsftpd service shows Yes without *.

Please suggest where I am goofing up :frowning:

Try and stop the firewall.
