i am looking for a program for taking desktop video clips...

I don’t know if this is in the right Forum, please let me know if it is.

I am trying to make a demo of Sauerbraten for a friend of mine. I would like a short video clip of playing Sauerbraten, however I don’t know how I can do this. Is there a program you download? Again, I don’t know if I posted this in the right spot, please tell me if I did. I am very new to openSuse 11.0 (its been days) so I don’t really know what I’m doing.

Thanks,
DaemonHunter

xvidcap is right for this purpose, it is in packman.
have fun.

install recordmydesktop and rekordmydesktop-gtk … the gui… thats all folks

Unless you’re using kde of course, installing recordmydesktop-qt instead of recordmydesktop-gtk makes more sense then.
(it’s recordmydesktop-gtk btw if you have problems finding it)

thanks everyone!
xvidcap does the trick… thanks
I looked into recordmydesktop, but I am using KDE… (i should have stated that earlier, sorry)

Hi
This is a KDE frontend?
Krecordmydesktop

Cheers Malcolm °¿° (Linux Counter #276890)
openSUSE 11.1 x86 Kernel 2.6.27.7-9-default
up 12:10, 1 user, load average: 0.32, 0.23, 0.15
GPU GeForce 6600 TE/6200 TE - Driver Version: 180.29

recordmydesktop works also on kde without problems. I am using kde also…

ooh.
i tried installing it (recordmydesktop) trough the repositories… and i can’t find it anywhere, plus i can’t run it through the terminal… xvidcap has been easier.

A side issue… when I boot up Sauerbraten, xvidcap decides to film my desktop, not the Sauerbraten frame. Is there a reason for this?

Packman package this application.
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket recordmydesktop

its available for openSUSE-11.1, 11.0, 10.3, and 10.2.

It can be found by an easy web pin search: Webpin

Those are always the very FIRST places I look for an application. You may wish to consider updating your bookmarks as to where you look for applications.

Totally agreed. First place I like to look at is Webpin - there you are able to chose your OS version and you are set to search. One-Click-Installs (OICs) are just freakin´ awesome.

Now is there a major difference between recordmydesktop and xvidcap (e.g. QUALITY)? How about handling?

TheMask.

Apparently recordmydesktop is not available for 11.3 KDE 4.4.4
