Could be easily.
But we have no idea what you are installing.

me neither :sarcastic:
Change it like that. Look at it carefully.
If you are running an update now, leave it!
…its running…
so I’ll leave it!
What does it mean?
Refresh - yes / no whether it should load and re-write the files
Priority -yes/ no - ???
Type -99/20/100… no Idea what all this stuff means…
Do I need to know it?
…I can’t know everything… For my day job I work in a Psychiatric home
OK, its at 60% now…
When its finished I’ll continue with:
When Yast finishes it will ask if you want to install more? Select Yes.
Now filter by repository again and go back to Packman.You now need to mark for installation the following – some of which may auto add to install by dependency as you work through the list.
amarok-packman (if kde or you want this media player) + amarok-xine
libavcodec52
libdvdnav4
libdvdplay0
libdvdread4
libffmpeg0
libquicktime0
libxine1
libxine1-codecs
libxvidcore4
smplayer
vlc
w32codec-all
xine-ui
xvidcore
ie. search for these points in the open list and toggle “install” - Right?
Where it says;
Yes | No this = Enabled but No refresh
if it was : Yes | Yes it would = Enabled and Refreshing
If it was : No | No = Not enable and Not refreshing
Priority: The lower the number the higher the priority
So a repo set at 20 will prioritize over a repo set at 90
The same is true even if one was set to 20 and the other 21.
It is important to try and learn about repo management.
In my recommendation to you I gave Packman priority over everything because it will keep all your multi-media coming from Packman, which you must do.
ie. search for these points in the open list and toggle “install” - Right?
Correct. I’m logging off now.
Cool. Thanks for your time and effort!
I hope everything turns out well!
If I still have problems with my multimedia I’ve got to give it a low priority number…
and change ones like:
9 | repo-update | openSUSE-11.1-Update | Yes | Yes | 20 | rpm-md | Index of /update/11.1
to a higher one…
Got it!
Thanks!

I just watched a vid on Youtube inbetween and the vid was very jerky… does that have something to do with this or is it something way different?

I had to do something - so I did it like so…
right / wrong…
I don’t know…
Nope, the sound on the DVD is still sticking with VLC…
Totem is playing it now thoe…
(although it crashed the first time?)
…funny, it’s running like a dream now.
here is my smolt page,if that helps:
Show Box
youtube vids are still jerking bad!
Banshee has started giving me problems though…
…till yesterday it would play all (most) of my MP3s without a problem. Now it doesn’t seem to recognize any of them… I right click on the file → open with “Banshee”
then in Banshee I get a little red box next to the track title…
Weird!
now I have a whole lot more options to play the MP3 with…
->Enqueue with SMPlayer
->MPlayer
->SMPlayer
->Totem
->VLC media player
…but they only play with Totem!?

Something still doesn’t seem to be quite all right with your
repositories. Please post again the output of:
Code:
zypper lr -d

Christian
I agree that we need to see your repo list. Did you make the changes we asked earlier?
zypper lr -d
thats funny…
I could have sworn I could copy and past in my ETerm yesterday… are there different ones?
No, I didn’t make the changes yesterday - I watched my Vid an fell into bed
I can’t make thoes changes in the ETerm - Right…
YAST → Sortware Management → Filter: Repositories → Packman Repository…
OK, the window (does one still say window when using LINUX) is open…
Am I in the right spot?
ahhhh - there is a button Repository…Click
WOOOP!! I think I can make thoes changes from here… COOL.
I’ll get back to you in a minute!

Here we go!
Changes have been made…
Do I give it a reset now?
A reset always helps…
This is all a bit complicated… I’m just imagining my brother or my mom sitting at this: He he, they would have thrown the PC out of the window days ago…
TEST:
-
The DVD is running smooth with Totem,
-
the sound is still jerking with VLC.
-
Banshee now recognises my MP3s again…
-
Youtube is still jerking… its alot worse in full screen…
OK - here goes the reset, while I get myself another cup of coffee
oh, while I’m here and all…
Do I need to install a Anti-Virus or something?
…or is that really a thing of the past?
Greetz
T5K
Not required. I have never used one in Linux and have never had any problems. But you can repair Windows partitions if you have them. ClamAV is available and frontends such as clamtk & klamav.
You can if you want. For instance if you share diskspace with Windu computers in a network. There’s clamav, there’s antivir, both free, light and yet powerful.
But…there’s no real need for them, as long as you stick to one main rule:
Never, never login as ‘root’. Use ‘kdesu’ or ‘gnomesu’; programs that need root access will start them on demand.
In short: you NEED only a couple of repos:
OSS -> the version’s repo
Non-OSS -> some non open source packages
Packman -> install all codecs, multimedia files from here. NOT FROM VIDEOLAN. You are definitely in a mixture of packages from both.
Update -> security patches etc.
Now enter the software installer, select the repo view, tick the Packman repo, right click in the right window pane and pick ‘All packages’ -> ‘Update unconditionally’. This would solve your multimedia instability. And the conflicts as well.
